Tell us about your background:
I come from Puerto Rico, but I have lived in Florida since I was 11. I did my undergrad at the University of Central Florida, and from there I went to the U.K. to get my master’s from the University of Cambridge. I now work at Stris & Maher, not too far from KHL.
What motivated you to become a KHL Trustee?
A library serves many purposes: it can store life-changing books; it can be a place to socialize; it can provide some much-needed relief from a hectic schedule. In essence, a library is crucial in life. Since moving to Montpelier, KHL has served as an anchor for me, as a conductor to learning more about this thriving, charming town. As a trustee, I can ensure that KHL continues to be that centering point for so many. And serving as a trustee lets me fulfill a passion for public service.
What are some of your hobbies and interests? Besides reading, my hobbies include weightlifting, playing guitar, and watching (occasionally umpiring) baseball.
What are you reading right now? I’m currently reading Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton and P. G. Wodehouse’s The Code of Woosters.
What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned about the library since becoming a trustee? Learning the history behind the Greco-Roman art in the library ranks on the top of my list (thank you, Carolyn, for telling me about it).
