Programs
We are a learning and cultural center of the community. We offer hundreds of free programs each year for all ages. Everyone can attend, you don’t need to have a library card. We host authors and historians, storytimes and craft activities, arts and musical events, and much more. We are especially proud of PoemCity, our annual celebration of National Poetry Month, and our StoryWalk® program, which has spread the joy of reading across the world!
Featured Programs
Art at the Library
The Library contains a small permanent art and sculpture collection, and hosts regular monthly exhibits by local artists in the Kitzmiller Fiction room and the Children’s Library.
PoemCity
PoemCity is our annual celebration of National Poetry Month each April. PoemCity displays poems by Vermonters in storefront windows in downtown Montpelier and organizes a community calendar of poetry events for the month.
StoryWalk®
Combine reading and the great outdoors with StoryWalk®! StoryWalk promotes early literacy, physical activity, and time together in nature. It’s a fun and educational family activity that you can bring to your community!

LIBRARY CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER
Can I book a program at the Library?
Yes! If you would like the Library to sponsor and coordinate your program, you can reach out to the Adult or Youth Librarians in charge of programs. Library sponsored programs are limited and book months in advance, but you can also use our meeting rooms and offer your own program.
