
Fiber Arts and Democracy

Eve Jacobs-Carnahan will speak about the role of knitting in her art practice. She’ll talk about the textile artists who inspired her and the evolution of her work. In this richly illustrated presentation, she’ll explain her use of allegory and the social themes that permeate her narrative sculptures. She will also introduce you to her activist public art project, Knit Democracy Together.
Eve’s artwork has won regional and national awards and appears in Astounding Knits! 101 Spectacular Knitted Creations and Daring Feats (2011) by Lela Nargi. Eve was named a Creative Community Fellow: New England by National Arts Strategies in 2021. She has a B.A. in History from Swarthmore College and a J.D. from the University of Chicago.
