To the Kellogg Hubbard Library— We’re writing this because we’re moving away, and you’ve been one of the best parts of living in Montpelier. Thank you. We could not have gotten through these past four years without you. Since March 2020 we’ve collectively checked out, and the librarians (especially Nicole, Meliss, Autumn, and George!) have put out 892(!) books and some board games for us curbside. At least, that is the number at this exact moment. More are on request as I write this, even as our stuff is rapidly disappearing into boxes. I mean, I want to list all those awesome books (“Wings of Fire,” “Keeper of the Lost Cities,” “City Spies”!) but there’s kind of no point because, good grief, there’s 892 of them. (Oh, and I can’t forget all the help from Meliss finding Latin books way back before the pandemic. Sadly, I still only know a few words — I’ve moved on to Catalan and Spanish now.) Since we haven’t been going indoors because of COVID, if it weren’t for your curbside service, we would’ve had nothing to read. DISASTER! (In our house, that would be a sign that the world’s coming to an end. Which, come to think of it, it seemed like it might’ve been in 2020 … but the library reopened after only two months AND WE STILL HAD BOOKS!) So, again, thank you to all the amazing librarians at Kellogg-Hubbard. We can’t thank you enough.
