Recent U.S. Supreme Court Decisions: Garland v. Cargill
Join us for an engaging discussion on the June 2024 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Garland v. Cargill, where the Court ruled that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) exceeded its authority by classifying bump stocks as “machineguns.”
William Clark of the Gifford Law Center will provide a comprehensive analysis of the case and its implications, drawing on his deep knowledge of firearm regulations and public safety. Joining him is Attorney Cabot Teachout, a seasoned criminal defense lawyer, who will offer insights into the historical context of the decision and current legislative efforts related to gun laws in Vermont.
This event will explore the intersection of law, firearms policy, and constitutional authority, offering diverse perspectives on one of the nation’s most pivotal recent rulings. Don’t miss this thought-provoking discussion!
This program will take place on Zoom.
