Journey of Loss

Ginger Frunceck

On display in the Kitzmiller Fiction Room the month of June

Stitched collage with fabric material. After a devastating house fire in 2018 Ginger spent many hours processing losing everything. Her son’s artwork, her artwork, and so many lifetime sentimental knick-knacks-all gone. Here, she lays out her journey of loss through colorful multimedia exploration and meditative stitching working on layers of grief along the way.

As a contemporary art alchemist and multimedia artist with over 30 years of practice, Ginger experiences life through its patterns, textures, and nature’s explosions of color. Her work is a celebration of these many hues. She creatively guides thrifted threads, yarn, buttons, beads, and glass onto substrates, where interesting found objects willingly take shape. By repurposing and upcycling materials, she creates products rendered through intuitive strokes, stitched canvases, and intricate collages. Each piece is an extension of her life experiences and the subtle moments that define them.
