PoemCity 2026 Community Event Submission Instructions 

Thank you for your interest in hosting a PoemCity 2026 community event! PoemCity is the Kellogg-Hubbard Library’s month-long celebration of poetry held in our member towns each April during National Poetry Month. Community-led programs are an essential part of PoemCity, and we’re excited to include your event. 

Submission Deadline 

All community events must be submitted by February 28, 2026. 

Host Responsibilities 

By submitting an event, you agree to the following responsibilities: 

  1. Find a venue.
  2. Set up the event space prior to the program. 
  3. Introduce the program, acknowledging yourself (or your organization) and Kellogg-Hubbard Library. 
  4. Clean up the space after the event. 
  5. Report the number of participants to [email protected] after the event. 

About the PoemCity Community Events Calendar 

  • All community events will be listed on a shared online PoemCity calendar. 
  • This calendar allows the public to see what poetry programs are happening around Montpelier. 
  • You may choose the date, time, and location of your event. 
  • If you choose the Hayes Room at Kellogg-Hubbard Library, library staff will book the room for you if it’s available. Standard use fees are waived for PoemCity Programs 
  • Room reservations are first come, first served. 
  • There may be multiple events on the same day. 
  • The calendar is for informational purposes only. 

 

How to Submit Your Event 

Go to: https://kellogghubbard.org/calendar/community/add/  

  1. Event Title
    Enter the title of your event. 
  2. Event Description
    Include the following details: 

    1. Date 
    2. Time 
    3. Location 
    4. Cost (if any) 
    5. Contact email 
    6. If the event is virtual, include the link to the virtual event 
    7. Is the program intended for youth, teens, adults, or all ages? 
  3. Event Time & Date
    Enter the event start date and time and the event end date and time. 
  4. Event Image
    Upload an image or flyer for your event (optional but encouraged). 
  5. Venue Details 
    1. Click the down arrow next to Kellogg-Hubbard Library. 
    2. In the “Create or Find a Venue” box, type the location where your event will be held. 
    3. If the venue already exists, select it. 
    4. If it does not exist, select Create: [Venue Name] and proceed to enter the relevant information. 

 After You Submit 

Once you have completed all required fields, click Submit Event. 

  • Library staff will review your submission and confirm it is not spam. 
  • After approval, you will receive a confirmation email. 
  • After approval, your event will then appear on the PoemCity Online Calendar:
