Summer has arrived, and with it comes a fun and colorful way to enjoy your reading life. This year, the Kellogg-Hubbard Library invites all adults to join our Color Your World Summer Reading Challenge. This creative and simple challenge is designed to brighten your summer and expand your reading choices.

Here is how it works. To complete the challenge, read seven books, each with a cover that features one of the colors of the rainbow. You will need to find books with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple covers. Whether you pick a fast-paced mystery wrapped in red or a gentle memoir with a soft green cover, you get to choose books that interest you. There are no rules about what type of books you read. You can pick any genre, fiction or nonfiction, as long as the cover matches the color.

Every time you finish a book, mark it on your official reading sheet. You can pick up a sheet at the circulation desk at the library. Once you have filled in all seven colors, turn in your sheet at the library before the End of Summer Party on August 30th. When you complete the challenge, you will earn a prize and be entered into a drawing for our grand prize: a $100 gift card to a local business of your choice.

As a bonus, you get to pick a prize just for finishing the challenge. Choose one from the following:

  • A book-themed sticker to decorate your water bottle, laptop, or notebook

  • A Kellogg-Hubbard Library mug so you can enjoy your coffee or tea while reading your next book

  • A free book from our book sale so you can keep your reading list growing

And do not forget to save the date for our End of Summer Party on August 30th. We will celebrate the summer’s readers, hand out prizes, and draw the winner for the $100 local gift card. It will be a great way to wrap up the season and share the joy of reading with others in the community.

So pick up your reading sheet, choose your first colorful book, and get started. Whether you read at the beach, on the porch, or curled up on the couch, this challenge is a simple and joyful way to fill your summer with books.

Happy reading!
