Hispanic Voices Exhibition

Hispanic Voices Exhibition
By Adriana Sanchez-Gutierrez
On display in the Kitzmiller Fiction Room through April

In this exhibition, you will listen to 29 interviews of Hispanic Vermonters who shared their life stories with students at the University of Vermont. Hispanic Voices is a service-learning project created in 2023. Our main goal was to build significant awareness of cultural differences in Vermont. As part of this project, UVM students had conversations with Hispanic Vermonters to create a final five-minute interview. During these interactions, students recognized how significant and impactful the Hispanic Community is in Vermont, along with the opportunity to learn about countries they had never visited. Olivia Ciocca, one of the students involved in the project, said, “We made sure to ask questions about what it was like to be a Spanish speaker in Vermont and to learn how they hold on to their culture.”

Please enjoy this exhibition and celebrate with us our Hispanic Heritage in Vermont.
