It was such a joy to host author and poet Amber McBride yesterday in partnership with Vermont Humanities. We were so grateful to Amber for sharing her refreshing perspective on writing and her candid stories. The Library’s mission is to “empower community members to become lifelong learners” and yesterday felt like a beautiful illustration of us living into this mission.

Amber led a writing workshop for 22 young students at U-32, spoke to nearly 300 students at U-32 and live-streamed across the state, and shared an inspiring program with dozens gathered at Christ Church at online in the evening.
One evening attendee shared, “I just want to say that it’s a privilege to have you here and to hear your story. I’m here with a group from Norwich. I’m a recent graduate. I just got my degree in English and minor in writing. Seeing you up here is very special for me and hearing your passions … I feel like I’m looking in a mirror in a way. I just very much feel seen.”
This is what inspires us each day. Thank you!
