Support the Kellogg-Hubbard Library!
For over 121 years, the Kellogg-Hubbard Library has cultivated its position as steward of the intellectual energy of Central Vermont — promoting life-long learning, the free exchange of ideas, and literacy.
We rely on donations to buy books and other materials, to offer programs for adults and children, and to keep pace with changes in technology. Gifts to the Kellogg-Hubbard are tax deductible.
An Evening at the Library
On the first Saturday of December, patrons and friends of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library come from all over central Vermont to attend one of Montpelier's most beloved gala events: An Evening at the Library.
For the evening, the Kellogg-Hubbard is transformed into an inviting and glamorous venue, complete with live music, hors d'oeuvres, wine, and honored guest speakers.
Come enjoy the building's elegant architecture and warm ambiance, while mingling with fellow library lovers among the stacks!
An Evening at the Library 2013 will be held Saturday December 7.
During the month leading up to An Evening at the Library, a panoply of items are offered for auction. Items are displayed in the front lobby, and usually include paintings, rare books, handmade jewelry, sculpture, textiles, and services. The bid book also is available in the front lobby.
Bidding closes at An Evening at the Library.
All proceeds benefit the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
Onion River Century Ride
Every year, the Kellogg-Hubbard teams up with Onion River Sports to present The Onion River Century Ride. In 2013, the ride will take place July 27.
Choose from three routes that will take you through maple groves, balsam forests, and enchanting New England towns: the full 111-mile Century Ride, the 110-km Metric Century (68 miles), or the 35-mile dirt and paved loop.
The Kellogg-Hubbard hosts four book sales a year. Each sale offers thousands of books, from shiny new bestsellers to antique curiosities. You can also find CDs, DVDs, maps, sheet music, and more. The books are organized by subject for easy browsing.
Library Use Value Calculator
What is your library worth to you?
How much would you pay out-of-pocket for your library services?
- Enter in the left hand column the number of times per month you or your family use each service.
- Estimated retail value of each service will be calculated on the right.
- Total value of your library use is shown at the bottom of the worksheet.
- Tip: Tab between entries and do not use commas.
The calculator worksheet has been adapted from the downloadable spreadsheet, originally provided by the Massachusetts Library Association and then adapted for the web by Chelmsford Public Library. Maine State Library added extra accessibility coding and reformatting for ease of reading online. This spreadsheet requires either Microsoft Excel or the Excel Viewer.
